Stevie Moises

Tippermaker

Hello and welcome again!

My name is Stephan ‘Stevie’ Moises, I am a master woodturner and have been self-employed in a small workshop near Munich since 1988.

After my training as a wood turner, I was given the opportunity to join an up-and-coming drum manufacturer as a developer. The company TROYAN DRUMS still makes drums from solid wood. For me, who has been playing drums since my youth, this was a very enjoyable and fruitful time, during which I was able to acquire extensive expertise in the construction of drums.

I was also very lucky to be able to play on stage as a drummer and percussionist in various bands with many very good musicians at countless concerts and gain experience. Of course I make all the sticks I play myself.

One day, at the beginning of this millennium, Christian Hedwitschak suddenly appeared in my workshop with his first bodhrán. This was my first encounter with an Irish frame drum. Christian gave me a short demonstration and I was immediately hooked. From then on I wanted to have a bodhrán and learn to play it. No sooner said than done!

Together with Christian I developed tipper drums in the following years. Soon after, Christian concentrated on building bodhráns and left the making and development of tippers to me.

I launched my first website for tippers and accessories in 2015. The 60 or so different models at that time have now grown to around 90. These include completely new tipper series like the hybrid tippers (MOgrip series, MONster, enchantHED) and signature models for world famous bodhrán players.

Since I also turn the concave shells for Christian, there is hardly any time left for the usual turning products and I only produce tippers and accessories. Profession and hobby have come together in a wonderful way!

The constant development of the tippers and the fulfilment of my customers’ wishes are very important to me. My education and many years of professional experience combined with my experience as a drummer and percussionist form the basis of my products. Long and extensive testing, trial runs and cooperation with professional musicians and craftsmen are a matter of course for me and guarantee the highest quality.

No tipper leaves my workshop without having been played by me!

It goes without saying that I pay close attention to the environmental compatibility and sustainability of the materials I use.

For me, for you and for all those who come after us!
